BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the government to take his party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s proposals on Election Commission positively and take an initiative to hold talks.
He came up with the call on Sunday while speaking at a discussion marking BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman’s 52nd birthday at the Engineers Institution.
Fakhrul alleged that Khaleda floated the proposals as a national leader but the government turned them down. They did the same when she (Khaleda Zia) urged all to form a national unity after the Gulshan attack, he added.
According to Fakhrul, the ruling party knows it will not be voted to power if a fair election is held.
And that is why the ruling party rejected Khaleda’s proposals, said Fakhrul.
The BNP leader also said they are not saying that this is the final proposal but it can be discussed.
He also called on people to come forward and share their opinion on Khaleda’s proposals regarding the EC.
